Grant-Related Priorities Under the Biden Administration

President Joe Biden now stands at the helm of a country facing various challenges, the most significant of which being the continuing economic and health-related consequences created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Among his efforts to address these hardships are actions promoting greatly increased funding for numerous federal financial assistance programs, as well as the creation of other new programs. Not to be overlooked, the new president also has published a raft of executive orders, many of which revoke those issued during the Trump administration, to set forth his own administrative priorities. Several of these actions also have implications for grants.

Grant applicants and recipients should be aware of Biden’s administrative priorities as they may have an important impact on how they determine the amount of funding potentially available under a grant program, the level of oversight it may require, and whether they will need to alter their proposal for a particular award to reflect these priorities.
